The Town of Marcellus, established in 1794, is located approximately 10 miles southwest of the City of Syracuse, near both Otisco and Skaneateles lakes. Marcellus is a small rural community of 35 square miles characterized by large open space areas with active agricultural uses & areas of concentrated residential development. Marcellus is known as a "Bedroom Community" due to its proximity to the City of Syracuse and largely residential population of 6,400. Some major attributes of Marcellus are a sense of "small town character", scenic land-scapes, outstanding school district, vast agricultural lands, and unique environmental settings that support many outdoor recreational activities.

School: Marcellus residents are in the Marcellus Central School district which consists of one elementary school (K. C. Heffernon), one middle school (C. S. Driver) and one high school (Marcellus High).

The Nature Center has many programs geared twards educating children on nature and their environment. Nine Mile Creek runs through the Town of Marcellus which is enjoyed by the local fishermen. There are 2 golf courses in Marcellus (Links at Sunset Ridge, Tuscarora Golf course) and 4 others within a 5 mile radius from the center of town.

How is the market in Marcellus New York? The average sales price is $184,300, and the average time it takes to sell a home, when priced correctly, is 78 days.  The most buyer activity was in the $100,000 to $139,999 price range at 34% for the 3rd Qtr of 2010.
